Thank you.

1. The Slip Knot and the chain.

> Slip knot:

It is a starting point for crocheting and knitting.

>Chain stitch:

Hold crochet hook in right hand and make a slip knot on the hook.
Bring yarn over hook from back to front and grab it with hook.
Pull hooked yarn through slip knot and onto the hook. This makes one chain.
Repeat number of times until you have desired number of stitches.

2. Single crochet stitch.

>First Row:

Skip the first chain stitch.
Insert hook into center of next chain stitch.
Put yarn over your hook had pull through the chain stitch. You will have 2 loops on the hook.
Put yarn over your hook and pull through both the loops.
Now only one loop remains on the hook.
Repeat for each chain stitch you have made.

>Next row:

We will work on the stitches of previous row.
At the beginning of each row, chain 1, turn around.
Make a single crochet stitch like you did in first row, in each stitch.

3. Double crochet stitch.

> First row:

This stitch is taller than the single crochet.
Make the desired number of chain stitches plus 3 more.
leave first 3 stitches and start working from the fourth.
Put yarn over the hook.
Insert hook through the stitch. yarn over the hook and pull through chain.
You will have 3 loops on the hook.
Put yarn over the hook and pull through two loops.
Now you will have 2 loops on the hook.
Put yarn over the hook and pull through these two loops.
Finally you will have 1 loop on the hook.
This completes one double crochet stitch.
For the next stitch. Put yarn over hook.
Insert through the next stitch.
Yarn over and pull through 2 loops.
Yarn over and pull through 2 more.
That's 2 stitches done. Repeat for the full length of the chain.

>Second row:

When you reach the end of the row. Chain 3 and turn.
Put yarn over hook and start from the first stitch of the underlying row.

At the end of each row or at the beginning of each new row chain 3. This forms the side of the stitch and maintains uniform height of the stitch.
Also the chain 3 is counted as one complete stitch.

4. Crochet increases:

It means to increase the number of stitches in a row.
Simply Make two stitches(single or double) in same stitch.

5. Crochet decreases:

It means to decrease the number of stitches in a row.

>In single crochet:

Pull yarn through the underlying stitch as is done in single crochet so that we have 2 loops on the hook.
Pull yarn through next stitch so that the number of loops on the hook are 3 now.
Pull yarn through all of them together.
That is one stitch decreased.

>In double crochet:

Work the double crochet until only two loops are on the hook.
Do not pull yarn over these but work next double crochet stitch on the next underlying stitch.
Now you will have 3 loops on the hook.
Pull yarn through all of them.
That's one stitch decreased.

6. Half double crochet stitch:

It has the height between single crochet and the double crochet stitch.

>First row:

Leave 2 stitch of the chain instead of 3.
Yarn over the hook. Put hook through the stitch and pull yarn.
You will have 3 loops on the hook.
Pull yarn through all of them.

>Second row:

Chain 2, turn around.
And begin the same procedure from the next stitch, as the chain 2 is considered as 1 stitch.
