How I Converted My Old Abhaya/maxi dress into a Skirt.

Salam my lovelies. Weekend is finally here and I'm all set for a new post despite being busy with sorting out my life. My schedule is so filled that it is close to being exploded. Regardless I was lucky enough to find half an hour or so to turn this old (but in good condition) Abhaya into a gorgeous skirt that I can totally wear to outdoors too.

Reqirements

It is super easy to follow and obvious! No expertise required, just the Abhaya, scissor, elastic, needle and thread and couple of beads maybe.

Steps.

  • Spread out the Abhaya on a flat surface. It should be probably ironed. Make sure there are no bumps and creases here and there.

  • Take your measurements. You can use a measuring tape or some other bottom wear that you deem fit for the measurement.

  • Mark it and cut it using your scissor.

  • To make a belt, fold at least 1 cm from the top side of the skirt. Iron it. Now fold again to about 1 inch and stitch all along, leaving a little space to put in the elastic through it.

  • After putting the elastic through it close that little opening too.

  • Affix beads on the front side of the skirt in a pattern that you love with the help of a fabric glue or needle and thread.

  • Match it with your favorite top.

Throw Pillow with Ribbon Piping and Tassel Corners.

Here we are back on another weekend with a sweet and simple stitching tutorial.
Our today's craft is a throw pillow. I have too many of them and I always find a place for new ones. No one can say NO to one more cute pillow. can you?

In this tutorial I'm showing you how to attach a ribbon piping on the edges of the pillow and make your own new pillow in under 30 minutes.

Let's begin.

Material:

  • Fabric of you choice.
  • Scissor.
  • Silk thread.
  • Ribbon/lace.
  • Sewing Machine.
  • Tapestry needle and a thread.
  • Poly fill/Cotton stuffing.

Steps:

  • Cut the two pieces fabric of the (same) measurement of your choice. I had the dimensions of 15 X 20 "
  • Put them one over another with wrong sides facing outwards and right sides facing each other.
  • Take a ribbon/lace and fold it in half.

  • Put the lace between the two pieces of fabric and sew along all the edges of the pillow.

  • Alternately you can first sew the ribbon to one of the fabric pieces and than attach another piece over it.

  • Leave a nice gap for the filling to in.

  • Turn the pillow inside out.

  • When you have stuffed the pillow take a tapestry needle and a thread and sew the gap.

  • Make some pretty little tassels and sew them at each corner. You can further add beads to decorate it further.

  • How does your pillow look like? Mine looks awesome.

How to Make Shami Kebeb at Home.

It's a snack time. I haven't shared any good recipe since a quiet long time. As a matter of fact I'm not much into cooking but I do cook sometimes and it's good. I promise you that.
The recipe I'm sharing with you today is Shami Kebabs. It's a must have delicacy in Indo-Pak cuisine and for all the meat lovers around the world.
It's suits well for both, who likes spicy and who prefer little less spices.

You will need.

  • Minced Mutton- 250 grams
  • Channa dal- 1 table spoon
  • Cooking Oil/ Ghee
  • Caraway seeds(jeera)- half tea spoon.
  • Deep fried onions- 3 table spoons
  • Garlic Chopped 2 cloves
  • Coriander leaves- Half cup.
  • Egg- 1
  • Salt to taste.
  • Ginger Chopped- 1 teaspoon.
  • Red Chillies.

Method.

  • Prepare the Channa Dal (split in half) by soaking it in water for about 2 hours.
  • Mince the meat in a mixer/grinder.
  • Heat 2 tablespoons on cooking oil/ Ghee in a non-stick pan. Add Caraway seeds, Ginger, Garlic, Chillies, Minced Meat and drained Channa Dal. Mix well and saute for 2 minutes.
  • Add salt. Mix well and cook till all the moisture is dried up.
  • Add coriander leaves and Fried onions. Put the mixture in the mixer grinder once again and make a fine paste.

  • Take out the mixture and make flat kebabs.

  • Break the egg in the bowl and whisk it well.
  • Dip each kebab in the egg and shallow fry , turning the sides once.

  • Serve hot with green chutney.
